MARCH 19, 2020 COVID-19 UPDATE
Hello Visionaries, I’m sure you’re all navigating life and getting use to a new normal, and guess what? You’re not alone. I shared a post from a pastor friend of mine who asked for his members to be patient with him; he said there wasn’t a Pandemic Course in seminary and he’s right. While that’s true, we’re doing our best to lead as we hear from God. I also want to take this time to thank each of you. Thanks for calling and texting encouragement and for responding so well to love on each other and our community. While we navigate this together, let’s praise God that we get to navigate this TOGETHER, we’re not alone and 1 Corinthians 12 reminds us just how much we need each other.
1 CORINTHIANS 12:12 (CSB)
12 For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body — so also is Christ.
Now, below are a few updates for you as we continue to figure this out and do our best to love and serve well. We ask for ongoing adaptability as we’re literally getting information hourly. We’re jumping on videos calls with leaders from around the world who are all figuring this out and most importantly, as the Spirit leads us, we will follow. Here are some next steps for you to both know and share.
The pastors and other leaders from the church will do our best to contact everyone to listen and to pray. We ask for grace here as phone numbers change, we will do our best to connect based on the information that we have. Please answer or call back if you’re missed and realize that as we reach out to everyone, it may take some time for us to call you back if you’re missed.
As we spend time self-isolating, I think we are going to see far more people looking to social media in a time of boredom and a desire to connect. Inviting someone to church has really never been easier; it is literally just a click away. We will continue to be online from now until April 10th, so we’ll be online 3/22, 3/29 and 4/5. We will continue to send out updates and let you know about the rest of April and beyond. What you can expect are weekly messages, exegetical preaching, sermon guides and prayer. This will continue to be an online service through Facebook and we ask that you invite others electronically to watch with you and process what you’re learning together. Keep in mind, these online experiences are designed to provide a way for us to connect, but will never replace physically coming together as a family. So in the meantime, we’ll continue gathering online, but we’re anticipating, praying for, and looking forward to getting together in person soon because we love you and love seeing every person at Vision.
Our groups with continue to meet electronically through zoom and other video chat platforms. If you’re uncertain about groups and times visit our Community Group page here or email Adrian Bostic here. While we may not be together in person, we really want people to connect using technology and to use it to grow together.
We’re thinking and praying through ways to use tools that will allow us to equip families to grow together during these times. We’ve identified a tool and we’re praying about it, but we want you to know that equipping and serving you is a top priority of ours. Once finalized you’ll hear about it and will receive the information that you need for your families.
We will continue to provide updates on our website. Our Communication Team has done and excellent job here. Just checkout visionrdu.com/covid-19 for updates on services, groups, events and church-wide information.
We will continue to assess everything weekly, but we wanted to be intentional laying out the next few weeks for you, so, that everyone can plan accordingly and so we can serve each other well.
We love you all!
